Objectives:

  • The objective of the course is to offer information to attendees so that they can identify the required raw materials for fabrication of any type of cement and their specifications. Also, various industrial processes during cement fabrication as well as the effect of various fabrication parameters on the product are discussed.

Contents:

  • 1. Raw Materials for Cement Fabrication: Mud materials, Calcium compounds, Gypsum, Raw material specification.
  • 2. Applied Industrial Techniques and comparison between them.
  • 3. Physical Processes: Crushing, Grinding, Drying and packing.
  • 4. Rotating Furnace Used in Cement Industry: Dimensions, Rotating speed, furnace inclination, furnace lining materials, Heating Methods.
  • 5. Chemical Reactions in the furnace: Reaction products and percentages of each product.
  • 6. Cooling of Clinker and its Effect on Grinding.
  • 7. Environmental Effects and Mitigation Techniques.
