Analog Signal Conditioning

Analog Signal Conditioning

Objectives:

  • The purpose of this course is to familiarize the participants with the basic techniques of signal conditioning in process control.

Contents:

  • 1. Principles of analog signal conditioning: signal level and bias changes, linearization, conversions, filtering and impedance matching, concept of loading.
  • 2. Passive circuits: divider circuit, bridge circuits, RC filters(low-pass, high-pass, and band pass RC filters)
  • 3. Operational amplifiers: transfer function, ideal inverting amplifier, non-ideal effects, Op Amp specifications, practical issues.
  • 4. Op Amp circuits in instrumentations: voltage follower, inverting Amp, non-inverting Amp, differential instrumentation Amp, voltage-to-current converter, current-to-voltage converter, integrator, differentiator, linearization.
  • 5. Design guidelines.
  • 6. Case studies to be selected according to the main interest of the participants.
